World’s Biggest and Heaviest Mango

Guinness Book of World Records has proficient a 3.5-kilogram mango owned by a couple from Iligan City as the world’s biggest mango.

The 30-centimeter long and 50-centimetre wide mango, owned by Sergio and Maria Socorro Bodiongan of Tubod village, Iligan City, outweighed the 2.4-kilogram mango of Collen Porter of Kailua-Kona in Hawaii.

The Bodiongans’ mango caught the eye of agriculture officials when the couple entered it in the Agriculture Department’s contest of the biggest of everything in Cagayan de Oro last September.

That same month, they submitted their mango to the Guinness Book of World Records for inclusion in the record book.

The previous record holder was also a “Florida Keitt” variety, and whose fruits typically reach two or three pounds at harvest time.

Maria Socorro says that at harvest time, their mangoes typically weigh 1.5 to 2.5 kilograms, but they don’t sell them and instead give them away to friends.
