Mosaic Picture sets Guinness World Record

A mother passes a huge mosaic featuring nine infants in Shanghai on Sunday, April 27, 2008. Workers pieced together over 100,000 photos of sleeping babies to create a new Guinness World Record.

After 400 hours of hard work, a huge mosaic composed of 105,196 photos of sleeping babies was certified as the world's largest by officials from Guinness World Records on Sunday, Shanghai-based newspaper Oriental Morning Post reported.

The picture, 33 meters long and 20 meters wide, covers an area of 660 square meters.

Viewers gazing at the picture from a distance can make out nine sleeping babies and four Chinese characters which mean "golden sleep."

The mosaic is a call for greater attention to infants' sleep habits and general health, the report said.

The artists used photos culled from the Internet for the project.
