DALLAS, TX, USA -- Delicious Cakes , Dallas Gold and Silver Exchange and Quest Drape collaborated to make a 9-tier wedding cake, embellished with silver dust icings and 1,200 carats worth of diamonds, that costs $1.3 million - setting the world record for the Most expensive Wedding Cake.
It was made of foam, but if it were real, no cake from any catering service in Durham could match its attributes: it could weigh about 160 pounds and serve about 320 people, with each slice costing $3,125 per slice.
"We wanted to do something different this year," said Butch Stivers, owner of Delicious Cakes. "With the wealth being bad -- and we do the Dallas Bridal Show so many years -- we wanted to do amazing that the new brides-to-be could see and dream about and get their minds off everything else that's going on."
Although Stivers admitted that this is not the first time that he had ornamented a cake with diamonds, he said that this is the first cake which he has spent $1.3 million worth of Jewelry.
Due to the high price of the Most expensive Wedding Cake, it had to be transported in an armored vehicle to the Market Hall with armed guards surrounding the perimeter.
