“Indeed the date is 13th February and the goal is to break the Guinness Record by creating 2009 different desserts. Each hotel will handle a different country. This way it will be easier to make sure we do not double up any dessert. We will have an estimated 200 pastry chefs working for the event on 12th and 13th. The set up will be done by 5pm on the 13th and the buffet opening approximately an hour later. We have invited international guests to witness and taste from the spread. Moreover, tickets will be made available for the public who would like to bite into the fun,” said Chef Uwe Micheel, the President of the Emirates Culinary Guild.
“We will be laying out deserts not just from the Gulf counties but from all over the world - Germany, Italy, France, India, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Austria, Spain, Great Britain, Philippines, Egypt, Indonesia, Lebanon, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Morocco, USA, Tunisia, Burma, Nepal, USA, Mexico, Hawaii, South Africa, Brazil, Slovakia, China, Romania, Australia, Tunisia and Canada. Chefs from about 40 hotels and restaurants from all over UAE are working towards completing this task,” he added.
Participating restaurants for this year’s food extravaganza include Curry Leaf, Chikka Grill, Chopstix, El Rancho, Bombay, Bite Rite, Teppenyaki, Fish n Chips, Jimmy’s Killer Prawns, Sidra, Biryani Express, Dashi Dai, Deli France, Papa’s Junior, and an exclusive stall for Emarati cuisine. Besides the participating restaurants, visitors can also head down to the ‘Marketplace’ for coffee, nuts, chocolates, and diet food.
