Seven Year Old Twins set Maths Record

Seven-year-old twins, Paula and Peter Imafidon are the latest child prodigies to have become the youngest children ever to pass an A-level math test. The twins achieved a Grade D in AS-level maths alongside candidates more than twice their age. .

The brainy pair have managed to break three world records with their extraordinary feat:

:: the youngest candidates ever to pass an A-level maths paper.
::the youngest ever school pupils to pass the A-level maths paper as previous title holders have been home schooled.
:: the youngest ever twins to achieve this level in mathematics anywhere in the world.
Spokesman for the Imafidon family Kizzi Nkwocha said: "The children enjoy learning and see maths and science as a challenge and game rather than hard work."

The previous record holder for the title according to the Guinness Book of Records is Dr Ruth Lawrence, who passed the exams at the age of nine in 1981. Ruth then went on to graduate from Oxford aged 13.

The twins are from a gifted family of five siblings who are all high academic achievers.
Paula and Peter attended state schools in east London and Reading before taking the papers.
All five siblings have enrolled in an Excellence in Education Programme that works with schools to develop children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds.

Other high achieving pupils who have enrolled on the not-for-profit scheme are Israel Nwesi from Greenwich, who wrote a GCSE exam paper aged six last year, and Joy Osariemen Monene of southeast London, who got a C in maths aged 10.

When they grow up Paul wants to become a "successful" prime minister and Paula wants to be a maths teacher.

The quirky jewellery is currently stocked at Kitson in LA, as well as several UK stores and was first spotted adorning Paris Hilton, however now it seems the range is reaching out to new fans.

Alayna, a designer and musician launched the sweet inspired jewellery range after music fans at her gigs kept asking where she got her distinctive earrings, bracelets and necklaces. A fan of customising clothes and accessories, she began making her own jewellery after finding that high street and designer labels didn’t allow her to express her individuality. Her girly designs have since proved to be an immediate hit with fashion conscious trend setters and her designs are now adorning the bodies of LA celebs and Punky Allsorts are fast-becoming one of the big new trends of 2008.

The jewellery’s success on both sides of the Atlantic is just the beginning for Alayna as she is extremely ambitious, and believes that to start a business you just need complete confidence in your product. “If you’re brave and have a great idea, use your initiative and just go for it,” says Alayna. “I wanted to create a young, fun brand that didn’t follow the rules of the more formal traditional trends and that’s exactly what I’ve done; better still the success of my jewellery is now providing me with the opportunities to further my music career.”

Staffordshire Longest Toy Train Track set World Record

The world’s longest toy train track was today unveiled in the grounds of a Staffordshire theme park.

A team has spent two days assembling the track’s 10,530 pieces at Drayton Manor Theme Park near Tamworth, and the completed structure is long enough to surround the football pitch at Wembley five times.

Drayton Manor’s attempt has hit its target 1,800 metres, and the park is now waiting with baited breath for official confirmation from Guinness that is has smashed the world record – which currently stands at 1,650.14 metres at Thomas Land in Japan.

Drayton Manor, which recently became home to Europe’s only Thomas Land attraction, teamed up with toymakers Tomy and Hit Entertainment to try and break the world record.

Tomy’s chief executive Robert Mann said the team wanted to design “the most magnificent train track in the world”.

He said: “It was a challenge to build, but after a bit of huffing and puffing we have reached our destination and now have a fantastic 1.8km long train set. We are waiting with great anticipation for Guinness World Records to confirm we have broken the world record.”

Drayton Manor’s managing director Colin Bryan said it was “an amazing occasion”.

Excited young Thomas the Tank Engine fans were at the park today to catch the first glimpse of the lengthy structure, which – were it a full-scale train track – would measure 89 miles long, the same distance as the M40 motorway. The track will be on displayat Drayton Manor today.
