Nicolas Cage’s Dracula Poster Sells to N.J. Collector for World-Record Price. Madison, N.J., collector Ralph DeLuca purchase unusual, original 'Dracula' movie poster that once goes to actor Nicolas Cage at public sale. The original movie poster for Universal's 1931 horror thriller "Dracula," starring Bela Lugosi, went to the auction block last Saturday night. Once belonging to actor Nicolas Cage, the poster was sold for a record-breaking $310,700 to movie poster expert Ralph DeLuca of Madison, N.J.
Movie posters not only provide you with great artwork and enjoyment but have also been a solid, proven investment that outperforms stocks and real estate," explained DeLuca, who is a former investment banker. The same style Dracula poster sold for just under $80,000 around ten years ago at auction.
One of only three known copies, "Dracula is one of the nearly all important movie posters in the world," said buyer DeLuca, who also purchased the only known insert card poster for the 1932 Tod Browning film "Freaks" for $108,000. That poster was bought at a traditional store in southern California by the consignors for $10 in the 1970s. DeLuca added that he is forever happy to give free assessments of movie posters, concert posters and associated entertainment memorabilia -- and is for eternity buying.
