On 20 April 2008, 338 married couples were in attendance at Can Jonc Restaurant, in Alella, Barcelona, Spain, to break the Guinness World Record for the largest marriage vow renewal ceremony.
During a less than perfect spring day, 338 couples presented themselves in their original wedding attire to take part in what was to be an unforgettable day.
After an exhaustive registration, all the couples congregated to give way to the marriage vow renewal ceremony which was presided by a Justice of the Peace, followed by a performance by a gospel group and the official announcement by the Guinness World Records Adjudicator that the previous record had been surpassed.
From that moment onwards, the celebration began: gifts, music, surprise guests, all accompanied by an exquisite feast and the best wines and cavas produced in the Maresme region by the Marfil Alella wine cellar.
Despite the cold and rain, as in all good movies, love triumphed in the end, and the memory of having participated in a Guinness World Record will remain in the memory of these 338 couples, as they lived happily ever after!
