Granny Josie, 77, said: “The kids just kept coming – and then their kids just kept coming.”
She married German-born Hans, now 85, in 1948 and they celebrate their Diamond Wedding anniversary this month. The pair met after former PoW Hans stayed in the UK to work as a farmer following World War II.
Josie, of Bedford, said: “We worked hard at our family. We were told, in the days of feather mattresses, when you have a row with your spouse you shake the bed and get back in it.”
Guinness World Records said: “There is no existing record for the living couple with the most grandchildren. But this pair may clinch it.”
While there is no existing record with Guinness for alive couples with the most grandchildren, Guinness World Records authorities say the couple very well might hold the record.
Margaret McMillan, of Pollok, Glasgow, died last year at 98 blessed with 123.
