Worlds Longest Chain of Shoes Guinness World Record

Ten thousand smelly sneakers were cause for celebration in Washington on July 2, 2008. They set a world record for the longest chain of shoes, while teaching kids about recycling. A national children's magazine sponsored the event at their downtown headquarters...and you might be surprised to hear what happens to the shoes next. VOA's Carolyn Presutti shows us.

You can help to set a Guinness World Record 2008! Send us your old sneakers!

Help us create the world's longest chain of shoes!Athletic shoes will be donated to the Nike Reuse-A-Shoe program, which recycles old and unusable shoe material into basketball and tennis courts, soccer fields, and running tracks.
