What would you do after making the world's biggest sandwich? Rest on your laurels? Eat the sandwich perhaps? But this is not a hotel in Thiruvannathapuram is doing. It has followed up its 50-foot sandwich, with what it says is the tallest Christmas cake in the world.Giving finishing touches to what could be the world's tallest cake or at least that's what a hotel in Thiruvananthapuram claims.
Standing nearly 30 feet tall and weighing 2,500 kg, it's the result of all the hard work put in by 10 chefs and their associates, who worked eight hours a day for three weeks. The ingredients include 200 kg of white flour, 120 kg of sugar, 1500 kg of egg mix and 50 kg of dry fruits.
And hotel authorities say this towers over the previous world record for the tallest cake, 27.6 feet held by a hotel in Bangkok.
Rajagopala Iyer, Corporate Director, Uday Samudra said, "I am sure it will definitely make it. We are sending the videography and photos and people will come and measure it and also health officials will come and examine."
So who'll get to eat this cake, that will be cut into 22,000 pieces. Well, 12,000 pieces will be distributed among 12 charitable societies on Christmas Day and the rest will be served to customers. For a price, of course.
In October, the hotel had claimed to have made the world's largest sandwich, which was nearly 50 feet long. An accreditation is awaited from the Guinness Book of World Records.
Apart from record-breaking feat this gigantic cake also symbolises abundance and Christmas is all about abundance of joy, happiness and prosperity.
