Professional adventurer Khoo Swee Chiow (picture) has broken the record for the world's longest journey on skates – in the middle of his trip. The Singaporean, sponsored by Brocade, surpassed the Guinness World Record of 4,175km in Hua Hin, Thailand, on Monday.
Mr Khoo began skating from Hanoi on Oct 20 and travelled through Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. He will continue skating through Malaysia before finishing in Singapore next month, covering a total of 6,000km. He intends to complete the trip within 100 days.
Mr Khoo, who scaled Mount Everest in 1998, also holds the Guinness World Record for the longest scuba dive in a controlled environment.
